Non-Negotiable #2 – The Narrow Path, Part 3

Part 3
THE BIG QUESTION
So how can we know if we’re on the broad path or the narrow one? Well, what we love in life tells us a lot about that, and again we have two options – we can love God or we can love the world. It’s that cut and dried and our choice effects every part of our being – body, soul and spirit. And it shapes every aspect of life including work, play and relationships. It makes us who we are and shapes what we do in life, why we do it, and how we go about it.

What do you give yourself to in life? Whatever motivates you to action and consumes your imagination, time, money and resources, indicates what you love. To love, is to give, and we give ourselves to whatever or whomever we think will fill the emptiness in our soul, our inner being. It’s a principle that Jesus presented over and over as He defined what it means to follow Him.

He gets serious about this in John 14:15; “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” He doesn’t beat around the bush, does He? And doesn’t keeping His commandments include things like loving your enemy, forgiving others, taking up our cross daily, laying up treasure in heaven instead of on the earth, and shaping our life around the Great Commission? How seriously do we take Him on that? How are we doing? Which path are we on?

Deuteronomy 30:19 is raw, and I John 2:3-6 (https://biblia.com/bible/niv/1-john/2/3-6) sums the topic up well. Wow, not much wiggle room there! Read it.

Folks, is this as serious and as “narrow” as it sounds? If so, what does it say about much of what we call “Christianity in America?” Do we actually expect to negotiate things when we stand in God’s Presence on that Day or do we need to fall on our knees before Him in repentance while it is yet “today”? (Hebrews 3:12-14)

Where are our pastors and elders, the shepherds of the flocks?
