FIRE IN THE HILLS is a June 5-7 event in northeast Ohio (Details in the ad) sponsored by several local churches.
As I understand it, the founding vision for FITH was that it would bring together a wide variety of local Christians for fellowship, worship and inspiration. I attended in 2024 and ’25 and look forward to ’26.
My sense is that more than anything else, Christians in America need to hear and respond to God’s call to repentance for our love of the world and our refusal to take Jesus seriously in what it means to follow Him and do His work. He clearly defined what that means, but we seem to have felt free to redefine it for ourselves in the context of The American Dream, and for many in NE Ohio, in the context of our Mennonite/Amish, Anabaptist culture.
And so, I am running an ad (see pdf) in the Wayne and Holmes County editions of the May 30 Bargain Hunter paper in which I’m inviting others to join me in praying that, alongside whatever else is planned, God would meet us and pour His Holy Spirit out upon us in an overwhelming spirit of repentance.
This is an email-based prayer group, and I hope to send a few messages along the way to encourage us. I urge you to attend if you can, but to pray even if you don’t come.
