Many Christians live in spiritual chaos in these Last Days. Disturbed by national and world events and finding little anchor for their souls in their faith, they desperately long for the Rapture’s deliverance from this mess.
There is, however, a view of today’s world that gives hope. It is when we see life through the eyes of the Spirit who connects us to the Father and His eternal purposes. That is radical, and it requires a major reorienting of our worldview including our spiritual life, but Jesus was radical and so is the life of His Kingdom in this world.
IN TIME PAST
Some 2000 year ago God orchestrated world events for the coming of the Messiah, moving political systems and their leaders, and the religious community and more into place like pieces on a chess board. The signs of His coming were there but were hidden in plain sight, and the Jews missed it. We are likewise missing things regarding earthly events and His Second Coming, and there is a reason for that.
The only way to see it rightly is to live according to the radical, specific and narrow truths of what it means to follow Jesus, because only that connects us to the spirit realm of His Kingdom and its present-day activities.
We must enter His Kingdom through the narrow gate of Mt. 7:13-14 and abide there in the manner of Luke 9:23-26 and I Cor. 1:18-2:16, which leads to the intimacy of John 15:1-11 where the transformational Life of Jesus flows into and through us.
We must be His disciples, on-mission with Him. He IS at work today preparing our world for His Second Coming, but most can’t see it because they are too earthly minded – – like the religious folks 2000 years ago.
Seeing it, gives purpose to the chaos around us and becomes exciting to watch – – like when I sat on the porch with our young sons and we delighted in the flashes and booms of an approaching thunderstorm – – with our safe shelter nearby.
Where are the pastors who will speak such truths to their restless flock today?
