#173 – Progress for Elaine

Elaine was admitted to the Wooster Community Hospital this afternoon and is now receiving the first of three units of blood. It seems obvious that she is losing blood somewhere, and it’s not in the most likely places.

The thought is that she has a slow, upper GI bleed and they will scope that area tomorrow morning. They assured us that if the problem isn’t there, they’ll keep going until they find it.

Bone marrow not working right to produce blood cells is another option, and we’re praying that we don’t need to go there.

We are immensely pleased with the care she is receiving and are confident that we made the right decision. We were struggling with what to do, i.e. wait for things to develop with her family doctor or go to the ER.

A conversation with grandson Garrett, an ER physician, was the turning point. He was one little notch short of insisting that we don’t wait. I trust him, like I trusted his father, Mark, when he was a paramedic.

I’m not sure if she will come home tomorrow but we’re rejoicing together in the way God led us to do the right thing.

We are praying for God’s direction for the medical team and that they can find the issue. Your support and prayers mean so very much to us. Thank you. I’ll stay in touch.
