25-13, HIS WAY, Stumbling Stone #2

God intends that our “cup” in life be full and running over. He wants us to have abiding freedom, peace and joy without the handicap of the pains, anger, fear, sinful habits, worry, and emptiness of soul that burden so many. He wants that for us so badly that the Father sent His Son to pay the price for us to be redeemed from slavery to Satan.

We want that too, as we walk the path of life, but then we come to that rock sticking up on the path that says “but you must do it My way,” and we get tripped up. There are many paths to choose from in life but only one leads to John 10:10 Abundant Life.

You know as well as me how we struggle with control. We want to do things our way because we think we know best. We don’t realize how much we are under Satan’s influence and how our stubbornness actually takes us on a path into a dismal swamp.

In Luke 9:24 Jesus said, “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.” (NIV) To “save” means “to deliver or protect.” Our attempts to protect “the good life” that our flesh thinks is best, will actually get us off of the path into Abundant Life, but when we surrender to Him and resist/deny that inner voice of the corrupted soul we find our identity and purpose in HIM and Abundant Life will flow into and through us to satisfy our deep inner soul hunger.

The only path to Abundant Life is the path that Jesus walked and which His followers will also walk – the path of obedience to the Father. There are no options. You can have everything this world offers and you’ll still want more.

This is a process, but it literally changes everything. Life becomes supernaturally overflowing because it is connected to the divine purposes and power of heaven under God’s rule instead of the corrupted purposes of the earth under Satan’ rule.
