#180 – Report on Elaine

We had a good visit with our oncologist this afternoon.

Elaine has a 2” tumor on her small intestine that would block off the flow of food through there if it wasn’t treated, which could cause problems that I won’t describe here. It cannot be surgically removed.

We are grateful for the process that God led us through in which we went to the hospital Emergency Room for her low blood count, and then an endoscopy showed the bleeding ulcer, which led to a biopsy of some suspicious tissue – – which showed gastric lymphoma. And then the Pet Scan revealed the tumor!

It appears that the lymphoma has not spread to other lymph nodes, and that’s a big deal. For those who understand such things, it’s called an extranodal site and is Stage 1E. Isn’t God good!

We’ll have a series of infusion IV’s of Rituxan once weekly for four weeks, starting next Thursday. There are of course other medications in the process and the oncologist might recommend very mild chemotherapy after the four IV’s.

THE FORMULA
We have been practicing the Philippians 4:4-7 formula for peace and it really works. Our faith is in the character and power of God and our highest desire is that He will be glorified through this process.

He hears our requests and petitions with thanksgiving, for Elaine’s physical healing, and is altogether trustworthy to decide how He wants to draw hearts to Himself through this.

PRAYING
For your prayer interests, please pray that we hear and follow God’s leading in responding to Elaine’s need, and join us in asking for her healing while remembering that we are the clay and He is the potter. Further, she is maintaining her weight but isn’t gaining as the doctors want her to and isn’t building strength as hoped. She is not sleeping well either.

There are no words to express our appreciation for your love, prayers, and encouragement. This would all be very different without you. We love you and pray that God multiplies your good deeds back upon you.

Ken, for both of us.
