#155 – We The Church, 4

THE GLORIOUS CHURCH
The Church that Jesus had in mind is glorious. It is like finding a gold nugget in a chunk of coal. Like the rays of the sun bursting through a break in dark storm clouds. Like righteousness, peace and joy in a world of pervasive wickedness, endless conflict and gripping sadness.

The Church that Jesus had in mind is a place of comfort and healing for broken humanity. A place of love instead of hate; of giving instead of taking; of mercy instead of judgment; of rest for our souls instead of the endless pursuit of “something more.”

Jesus, the Lord of the Church and for Whom it exists, is ready to wash the filthy and empty cup and to fill it to full and running over with His pure, Living Water.

All of this is ours, but we must come to Him. His hand that holds such Life is always extended toward us but we must reach toward Him and receive it. And for that to happen we must release our grip on the world and the things of the world.

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,” Eph. 1:18 niv

Yes the glorious church of Jesus is truly something to anticipate.
“God cuts back the weed of sin, but the day is coming when he will pull sin up altogether and cast it into the fire. Sin will be no more. There will be a new heaven and earth, the home of righteousness.” Unlocking the Bible – Colin Smith
“Something more” what a battle, our heart – the natural sinful nature is pulling tugging at our hand to not reach out. We even can easy deny that we are in this battle, but the truth is, we are.
Hope, yes I believe there is hope, because of Jesus. His victory over death, and our sins have been covered. Thanks be to God for providing a rescuer. A safety net from our sin. Because unfortunately we, the church, continually fall in this world.

Even when we do good, the sinful nature is self-righteous.

Again, thanks be to our Rescuer.
