I was going to post an update several times over the past two weeks, but it seemed that Elaine’s passing was imminent so I didn’t.
There were several times when we though she had drawn her last breath, but she continued! She is pain free with meds; her vital signs are excellent; and her heart and lungs sound good. She is aware of family and friends who come but very little response.
We have others here with me in our home 24/7, and I thank God for the excellent support team that He has assembled around us. LifeCare Hospice continues to bring their skilled medical help in such a caring spirit.
People comment on the strong sense of peace that marks Elaine, which probably doesn’t surprise you.
This extended parting experience is new for most of us, and we all need patient endurance. Thank you for continuing to pray for her, and for me and our family as we walk through this transition together. She sooo anticipates her entrance into the presence of Jesus and promised me that she will give Ken Jr. and Brian special hugs from me.
I will post here, in a blend of sorrow and joy, soon after her passing.
