This IS the Day that the Lord hath made, and He has made it for His purposes. HIS purposes, which are as far from the purposes of the present ruler of this world as the sun is from the earth.
The purposes of the Father for today are a mystery to man because they are aligned with His purpose in creation and not to our fleshy instincts. We say that we know that we were created for His glory but our lives typically portray that we believe something very different.
We often act as though all of creation centers around man and is turned to face man and to serve him. In fact, we even act as though God is our servant.
It is true that man is the highest form in creation, but it is not true that he is therefore the center of the universe. That, is reserved for the Creator Himself. For the One who calls Himself the I AM. The One Who spoke words into the darkness that was without form or substance and made all that is – from nothing. Nothing but His Word, which is endued with power. His power.
It is that power that was in the One whom John described as “The Word,” in John 1. Jesus. The Son of God. The One who not only bore a message from the Father but was Himself that Message.
The One Who is the creating power of God. The voice of creation (Heb. 1:2, Col. 1:16) came not only to save us from our sins so we don’t go to hell when we die, but to save us from sin itself so we can be pure and holy as He is pure and holy. (I Peter 1:14-16) So that we can find our very being and our sense of “life” in Him as we were created to do, as in the Garden.
He came to set us free from enslavement to the sin that results for our trying to be our own god. SO THAT He alone rules our lives and becomes the center that all that we are and all that we do, pivots around. SO THAT the hunger and thirst in our souls can be satisfied by the Living Bread and the Living Water. SO THAT we can worship and “find ourselves” in Him. SO THAT we can fulfill our purpose in creation.
