What can you do in 15-minutes?
NFL half-time is twelve-minutes and basketball is fifteen. You spend 15 minutes, four times, in a one-hour news or other tv show, which many Christians do multiple times daily on programs that add nothing of value to their life or well-being.
Yesterday morning God took me to Revelation nineteen to twenty two and dropped into my mind the thought of listening to them online.
There are several options but I went to https://www.biblestudytools.com/audio-bible/ where I picked the English Standard Version. “The ESV Bible is a relatively new Bible translation that combines word-for-word precision and accuracy with literary excellence, beauty, and readability.”
That link took me to https://www.biblestudytools.com/audio-bible/esv/, where I scrolled down and clicked on Revelation, and then on Chapter 19. I followed along in the NASB and Elaine in the NKJV, and both flowed well with the ESV.
It took just under 15-minutes to listen to all four chapters! Only 15-minutes!! Then we did it again, pausing and contemplating at the end of each section. That took longer of course, but together it was less than most church services and was incredibly enriching. Was yours?
Now, I don’t get all worked up about how/when/where that stuff will happen, but I was deeply touched by the sovereign power of God, the glory of Jesus and the working of His Holy Spirit, and I needed that.
I know its gonna happen in God’s good time, and in the meantime it gives a believer a different worldview. It releases us from the power of the crap, the crazy, repulsive, anti-God, pervasive spirit of this world. Read it and worship Jesus. We are IN the world, but we are OF Him.
Two of us were gathered and Jesus was present. Then at 3:30 we met with four other families and snacked and chatted around the turkey in the fryer before “church,” still in our lawn chairs. More to come on that.
